This year the Field Crop pocket park was planted just after Memorial Day. Since the sweet corn and pumpkins were such a hit last year, a handful of edible crops were added to the park this year. These crops were chosen because many of them are indigenous to North Dakota. All Rocking Horse Farm residents are encouraged to harvest from the pocket park for their own use, once the produce is mature.
Small signs have been placed in front of each row to help residents identify the planted crops. Here is the complete list.

With the help of Autumn (more about her in a minute) who has been continuously weeding and watering, the plantings are thriving! A fence will temporarily be set up around the Field Crop pocket park to protect these new plants from hungry critters making their way through Rocking Horse Farm.
Some of you may have seen Autumn around this summer tending to our pocket parks. Autumn recently graduated from Kindred High School in May, where she participated in FFA, One Act, yearbook and basketball. This fall, she is heading to SDSU to pursue a major in animal science. She hopes to become a veterinarian, something she has dreamed about since she was very little. Tending to gardens isn't new to Autumn, as she helps with her mom's large garden and has also helped with the Kindred FFA garden for the last several years.
